Through a correlation of the existing twelve-note chromatic scale to twelve foundation hues in the visible spectrum, this live performance presents a fundamental relationship between sound and light. Twelve tones created by two analog instruments are held for five minutes each over a period of one hour, creating an immersive, multi-sensory experience through its slow, undulating progression of sound generating light.
Studio Chromasonic is an art and research lab exploring innovative intersections of light and sound. Founded by artist Johannes Girardoni and musicians Orpheo McCord and Joel Shearer in 2018, the studio focuses on large-scale interdisciplinary sculptures and installations in public space. The studio’s first major project is Chromazone, a series of seven hyper-immersive sculptures that combine installation and performance art with fundamental translations of light to sound and sound to light.
